On behalf of everyone at Marsiling Primary School (MPS), I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new students, and wish all parents, guardians and students a fulfilling year ahead.
Achievements in 2016
2016 was a very fruitful year for the school. We are very proud to be a recipient of the President’s Award for the Environment, the highest environmental accolade for organisations that have made outstanding contributions towards environmental and water resource sustainability in Singapore. This award affirms our commitment to develop every student to become a young environment champion and our contribution to promoting environmental consciousness in the wider community. We will continue to strengthen our niche in environment education (Green Citizenship @ MPS) and the Learning for Life Programme (Lead to Serve @ MPS) to provide a student-centric values-driven education for all Marsilians.
Our 2016 Primary 6 cohort has also done well in the PSLE. We celebrate their achievements and congratulate them for their good results. I hope that they will continue to role model their commitment towards learning and exemplify the school values of Respect, Resilience, Integrity, Care, Commitment and Esprit de Corps in secondary school, and wish them all the best as they embark on a new chapter of their education journey.
Focus for 2017
At Marsiling Primary School, we believe that all children can learn and all our students are talented in their own special way. Therefore, it is our duty and responsibility to bring out the best in each one of them so that they can contribute their unique gifts to lead and serve the community. We are committed to nurturing responsible learners and compassionate leaders who can learn, lead and serve.
In 2017, we want to continue to provide opportunities for every student to enjoy learning, discover their strengths, pursue their interests and develop a sense of compassion for those around them. We will offer a broad experience for them both in and out of the classroom, and cater for their development in the cognitive, physical, aesthetic and social-moral domains.
To get the most out of the learning opportunities provided by the school, I encourage all Marsilians to demonstrate the 3Ps – Pay Attention (during lessons), Participate Actively (in all school activities) and Persevere (in the face of difficulties or when they encounter a problem) – in their learning. I urge them, too, to continue to practise the 3Rs – Read, Revise and Relax – everyday, and turn these practices into habits and a way of life so that they can continue to enjoy learning beyond their primary school years.
Partners in Education
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our parents for their partnership in education in 2016, and for working together with the school to bring out the best in their children. We look forward to another year of partnering our parents and the community to reinforce the values that we teach our students in school, and equip them with useful lifeskills to support them in realising their aspirations. Together, we can help every Marsilian to achieve and succeed.
Wishing you a wonderful year ahead!
