Key Programmes
SPARKS@MPS
SPARKS@MPS is designed to Spark Ideas, Spark Interest, Spark Action: Igniting A Passion for Purposeful Storytelling as it offers students a safe space to explore their own beliefs and discover their aspirations and provides them with the opportunity to share through storytelling and key messages derived from the process of self-discovery. Through the ALP, students will experience how stories can change minds, impact emotions and motivate listeners towards change.
Primary 1 Choral Reading
This programme provides opportunities for students to effectively communicate their feelings and imaginative responses through the articulation of words and bodily movements. Students develop good enunciation, fluency, confidence and motivation in reading.
Primary 2 Readers’ Theatre
Students explore the perspectives of characters in the stories and think critically on the importance of values in guiding us. The programme builds students’ competency and confidence in reading fluency and speaking in front of an audience.
Primary 3 Storytelling
Students develop the ability to employ appropriate physical and vocal resources to engage the audience through storytelling. The programme encourages students to express themselves creatively to convey purpose, context and culture of stories to their audience.
Primary 4 Film making
Students learn to create their own stories through storyboarding and film making. Students acquire visual literacy and understand how an interesting plot and script, visual images and sound can help them to communicate ideas across with greater impact.
STAR Development Programme (Tier 2)
STAR Development Programme is our talent development programme to nurture our talents – students who display verbal talent and show interest and passion in the area of oracy and/ or speech and drama. Through this programme, students will be provided with opportunities to stretch their potential. Selected students will get opportunities to participate in programmes such as Trinity College London Speech and Drama Programme and film making masterclass as well as competitions to hone their talent and skills. Selected students who have displayed talents will take part in competitions such as 2024 Wits & Words Inter-school Debate Championships, Mythos Junior Orators and National English Writing Competition.
